1. The process of re-distributing load (read and write requests) across multiple resources.

Notes (1): For example, traffic can be distributed across multiple circuits to multiple switches or routers and, therefore, across multiple physical paths in order to mitigate issues of network congestion and helps to maintain a high performance networking.
